Lavender Latte Oatmeal
This week’s oatmeal is inspired by two wonderful things. The obvious inspiration is that I literally had a lavender latte last month at Watercourse, my fave vegan spot in Denver. As most of you know, I’m more of an espresso type, but I decided to branch out and try a fancy latte. Considering lattes aren’t my style, I really enjoyed this! I’ve wanted to transform it into oatmeal ever since.
Pumpkin Earl Grey Oatmeal
Yep, another earl grey recipe. What can I say? It adds a nice touch. It’s almost like vanilla extract: it adds just a hint of somethin’ somethin’ that makes everything else taste better.
Pumpkin, Orange, and Rosemary Oatmeal
As my regular readers know, I love rosemary. And all herbs. But especially rosemary. It’s one of the most satisfying and attention-grabbing flavors and goes surprisingly well with so many ingredients (especially fruits!). So today, I paired it with another fruit: pumpkin. (As much as we want pumpkin to be a veggie, it’s a total fruit.)
Savory Pumpkin and Kale Steel Cut Oatmeal with Sausage
Looking for healthy, hearty meals during the holiday season, without sacrificing the classic flavors of fall and winter? This steel-cut, savory porridge might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
Pumpkin, Brown Sugar, and Fig Oatmeal
Typically, when I want a brown sugar flavor, I just use a drop of molasses. However, I recently bought brown sugar to make (a veganized version of) Allison’s Chocolate Chip Cookies. Since I have it, I’ve been playing around with it in my oatmeal.
Gingerbread Persimmon Oatmeal + Product Review: BetterOats
Lately, I have been on the constant prowl for recipes that would work well with persimmon. My philosophy is this: persimmon has a muted but pleasant flavor, and pairs best with bold flavors. That is why I used this delightful fruit atop my Chai-Spiced Pumpkin Oatmeal; it contributed a calm sweetness to an otherwise “loud” oatmeal base.
Next up? Gingerbread.
I have made gingerbread oatmeal a variety of ways: with banana, with sweet potato, and with pumpkin. Truthfully, they all work beautifully, and it all depends on what “background flavor” you want in your life (i.e. just pick your favorite). Alternatively, you could use grated zucchini or yellow squash for a nutritional filler that adds no flavor. (more…)

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Baked Oatmeal
I have many seasonal recipes on “The List” that go unpublished every year. These ideas stay permanently unchecked on The List, waiting for its designated “food season” to make its big debut, but never seeing the light.*
*Because I’m lazy.
Such was the case with last year’s Peppermint Brownie Baked Oatmeal. I always wanted to make this during the holiday season, but it took multiple years to actually get it done.*

Curried Pumpkin Basil Oats [Guest Post]
This recipe is the first of three savory recipes that won the Savory Oatmeal Contest.
My name is Sarah, and I must tell you right away that oatmeal is my favorite food. It is just so affordable and wholesome and versatile! I can literally eat it for any meal of the day. I discovered The Oatmeal Artist blog over a year ago and I check it multiple times per week. Though I do not always have the more “exotic” ingredients Lauren lists in her recipes, reading her blog expands my repertoire of oatmeal ideas. I also like just seeing how pretty oatmeal can be! I share my excitement about the blog and its contents regularly with friends and coworkers, and now I am excited to share my own recipe on the blog. (Thanks for the opportunity, Lauren!) I developed this recipe using simple ingredients in my kitchen, but it’s oh, so good!
Saturday morning came, and it was time to craft my bowl of oatmeal. I had leftover pumpkin sitting on the kitchen counter, bananas frozen in the freezer, and assorted vegetables in the fridge. What did I want to make? Brownie batter oatmeal? No, too sweet. Pumpkin banana oatmeal? Still too sweet. Pumpkin peanut butter? No. Curried vegetable? No, too much like the Indian food a friend and I planned to try at a new restaurant later that day. I wanted to use that pumpkin, though. It called to me. (more…)
Chai-Spiced Pumpkin Oatmeal with Persimmon
Do you love Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal? Could you eat it every day and never get sick of it?
OR do you like it, but you’re looking for a slight change? If you fit in the latter camp, I have the recipe for you. This chai-spiced porridge tastes quite reminiscent of pumpkin pie, but the addition of cardamom gives it a distinctly different experience.
And yes, I am aware that chai literally translates to tea. But we Americans use chai to refer to a specific tea: masala chai. (more…)
Spiced Pumpkin Oatmeal with Java PB2
Hello, friends. Meet the newest take on Pumpkin Spice Latte Oatmeal.
That’s right. As I am always eager to find a way to add nut butter to every recipe, I developed a different way to enjoy the most famous Starbucks drink in oatmeal form. The oatmeal is a simple pumpkin spice, made exactly like my Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal. Then, it is topped with a wonderful flavor twist on nut butter: PB2 laced with coffee!
I polled you all on Instagram several weeks ago, asking how early is too early for a PSL recipe. Nobody seemed to mind that it was early August, but I managed to hold out until mid-September. Go me.
