Blueberry Lavender Oatmeal
Oh hey… it’s me. 🙂
Wow, it’s been a while. I haven’t posted–or even logged in–for 13 months. I actually struggled to remember how to access the blog’s dashboard, and it took several minutes to re-familiarize myself with all the tools.
But first, I’ll tell you how to make this blueberry-lavender bowl of goodness:
Cherry-Berry Breakfast Cobbler
It’s been a while since my last cobbler recipe! Over a full year, in fact. I found inspiration to return to this format when I found myself with an abundance of fresh cherries, blueberries, and strawberries, all dying (quite literally) to be consumed within 48 hours.

Savory Corn, Blueberry, and Basil Oatmeal [Guest Post]
Hi there! I’m Kelsey (@amindfulvegan on Instagram), if we haven’t met yet, and I’m thrilled to be sharing another recipe with you. This recipe is a take on Lauren’s Sweet Corn, Basil, and Blueberry Oatmeal, but where the original was sweet, this take on it is totally savory.
This recipe came to be when my roommate (Hi Kristin) brought me a gallon of blueberries from her grandmother’s house. I remembered seeing Lauren’s recipe and knew I wanted to try it, since there’s so much fresh basil around right now. I guess I hadn’t actually read it though, because I was definitely expecting a savory porridge. When I did read the recipe and found out it was more of a sweet flavor profile, I played around with the ingredients and made the savory oatmeal you see below. (more…)
Blueberry Pie Oatmeal Bites
I’ve been craving some more oatmeal bites lately. For nearly a week straight, snack time would approach, and I would wish I had some of these gooey, chewy noms to bite into.
I had dried blueberries leftover from my recent granola recipe, and I knew they’d be perfect for this recipe. After studying some blueberry pie recipes, I added a bit of cinnamon and lemon juice, and voila–blueberry pie. Fabulous flavor. Definitely my favorite “bite” yet!
Choco-Blueberry Almond Granola
This granola is crunchy, sweet, flavorful, and full of little chocolate clusters. Yes–as the chocolate chips melt, they clump together and form happy, cocoa clusters. You. Are. Welcome.
Blueberry Pineapple Overnight Oatmeal
Apparently it’s pineapple week on the blog. This occurred for no reason besides me realizing I had numerous bags of frozen fruit being ignored in my freezer. I guess that means you should expect lots of berries and pineapple in your future. ??
Sadly, I also realized that I’m not a huge fan of yogurt in my oats. Perhaps it’s because I prefer to eat my porridge warm. However, I also find the flavor of yogurt in oatmeal to be less cozy and earthy and wonderful. That being said, I know it’s popular, so I will do my best to provide recipes like this occasionally.

Lemon Berry Rosemary Oatmeal + Product Review: BetterOats
It has been a while since I put out a lemon recipe. Then I saw this recipe for Lemon Rosemary Shortbread cookies, and considering my recent love for rosemary, I knew this needed to happen.
Lemon pairs well with almost any herb. I’ve already paired it with thyme, but rosemary is my jam right now. This recipe uses the hidden banana trick, and it was adapted closely from my Lemon Blueberry Oatmeal, so if you’re (inexplicably) not into rosemary, you can always just make it sans herb. Blueberry Apple Oatmeal
I’ve done so many oatmeal recipes with apples, but I’m just now exploring the concept of using apples as a base like I do with banana. This is thanks to grating. With a grated apple, you get the taste and volume of apple without the chunks. When you dice an apple, those chunks steal the focus of the oatmeal. When you’re making Apple Pie Oatmeal or Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal, that’s a good thing. But sometimes, you want apple in the background. Voila, grating.*
*Or use applesauce, if you insist.
In addition to the grated apple, I spiced the base with my usual cinnamon + vanilla combo. Why? Because it’s classic. It works in the majority of my oatmeal recipes. It’s not me being lazy. It’s me acknowledging what works. And this works. Every time. (more…)
Papaya Blueberry Oatmeal
After successfully creating my Papaya, Lime, & Coconut Overnight Oatmeal, I reveled in my accomplishments for a few days. But then, suddenly, I realized I had to do something with the rest of that papaya. Some of it went into the freezer to make sorbet (which was delicious), but the rest waited for me in a Tupperware container. I was desperate to use it up, mostly because it was hogging an annoying amount of space in my New York City-sized refrigerator.
I also happened to have a large pint of blueberries on hand. I don’t trust berries, so whenever I have them, I try to use them as fast as possible. Thus, this combo was born. It’s not the most inspiring tale, but it’s the final result that matters. (more…)
Blueberry and Basil Steel-Cut Oatmeal with Roasted Pecans [Guest Post]
Hello, TheOatmealArtist readers! It’s Monica from My Pink Recipe Book again, back to share another oatmeal recipe, this time for a Blueberry and Basil Steel Cut Oatmeal with Roasted Pecans. Being a full-time med student, my food-focus is typically quick and easy, while always being healthy and full of nutrient-dense ingredients. Thus, oats are a very common staple in my diet.
My love for combining fruits and herbs all started with a Strawberry and Basil smoothie I made at the beginning of this summer. Realizing what a fantastic pairing they were, I vowed to create more recipes pairing fruits and herbs. One evening, as I was pondering what to have for my breakfast the next morning, I glanced over, and similarly to Lauren, spotted my basil plant by my window. (aside: my too has since withered away) Immediately, I knew I wanted to make a steel cut oatmeal in the morning that would pair well with this delicious, slightly sweet and licorice-tasting herb.
Since I had tried strawberries already and knew they were a winner, I thought to venture out to more berries and include blueberries instead. Since I like to keep my breakfasts high in protein, I tossed in a generous amount of chopped pecans. Topping this oatmeal dish off with a drizzle of honey made it feel almost like a dessert, but knowing how healthy it really was made it that much more enjoyable to eat.
