Frosted Brownie Baked Oatmeal
You know what’s fun? Eating dessert for breakfast.
I mean, I could never literally eat dessert for breakfast–at least not what most people consider dessert. Thanks to my IBS, I have the world’s most sensitive stomach. Living in New York City, I enjoy a variety of vegan desserts frequently (shout-out to Wild Ginger and the PERFECTION that is their Peanut Butter Bomb Cake), but it never takes long for the pain to settle in! Thus, when I order desserts while eating out, it’s often a conscious choice with a careful consideration of the consequences.

Elvis Oatmeal Smoothie + Getting Fit #8
Yesterday on Facebook, I shared the post for Peach Pie Oatmeal Smoothie. As of today, that recipe is exactly one year old. I have not posted a single oatmeal smoothie recipe since! I’m not a huge smoothie person–although I’m not sure why. I’ve just never been one to crave a smoothie.
However, someone commented on the Peach Pie recipe, “Ever thought of coming up with more oatmeal smoothie recipes? This one was delicious :)”
Reading that comment gave me the motivation to finally make this recipe!
This is the eighth segment of my Getting Fit series. This series features my friend Crystal, a rockstar figure skater and fellow oatmeal lover. You can her blog, Confessions of Crystal, and check out her Instagram,@crystalchilcott.
TOA: Hello! I hope you are fine and dandy and your training for the collegiate championships is going well!

Cherry Almond Fudge Oatmeal
Since going to my parents’ house a little over a week ago, I’ve been hooked on my Fudgy Banana & Peanut Butter Oatmeal. Every time that I’ve had to photograph a new recipe–like this one–I basically had to force myself to say “no” to my beloved favorite. This recipe was a little easier to swallow since it’s still “fudgy,” but…no peanut butter?! The horror!
Luckily, I am satisfied with my decision as soon as I take the first bite!
I love cherry season. I think frozen cherries lack flavor, and dried cherries are tough and too chewy. Whenever I have fresh cherries to work with, I am a happy lady.

Berry Blackout Oatmeal
All of my favorite recipes just made a baby.
It’s Brownie Batter + Fudgy Banana & PB + Nutty ‘Nana Berry. It’s the best threesome ever, and their baby is a GODDESS. YOU MUST MAKE THIS NOW. Cocoa powder + banana is my favorite oatmeal base. Strawberries are my favorite fruit topping. Peanut butter is MY LIFE. And this is CHOCOLATE peanut butter, so it’s obviously the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

Tropical Oatmeal
This recipe is so obvious that it’s almost embarrassing that I haven’t posted it yet. I have so many tropical-themed recipes, but why not combine them all into one fabulous breakfast?
Mango, pineapple, and coconut were obvious choices, but my decision to include banana was a last-minute addition. I don’t know about you, but I always forget bananas are a tropical fruit.

Banana Mango Overnight Oatmeal
Readers, this one is for you. (I mean, I suppose all my recipes are for you…but this one is really, really for you.)
You guys are always ragging on me to post more overnight recipes. To be honest, I make overnight oatmeal pretty frequently, but only when I’m too lazy on the weekend to prepare enough oatmeal ahead of time for the week. In other words, when I’m making overnight oatmeal, it’s at 10 pm, and when I’m eating it, it’s 5 am. If you think I’m going to take pictures during these hours, you’re crazy. 🙂

Bananas Foster Oatmeal
Where are my banana lovers? Let’s celebrate.
Let’s celebrate this fantastic fruit that makes our oatmeal creamy and our bodies regular. 😉
Let’s make this humble fruit feel special and all dressed up. Let’s caramelize it and make it a little boozy. (Well…this is breakfast time, so maybe we’ll just use rum extract instead.) (more…)
Choco-Banana Oatcakes with Peanut Butter Mousse
Yep, more oatcakes! I know I just posted my Black Forest Oatcakes, but you know it could be months before I post another. (By the way, it’s been almost a year since I’ve posted a muffin recipe!)
Basically, I felt like I ate my Fudgy PB & Banana Oatmeal way too often, and I wanted to switch it up…but I still wanted banana, peanut butter, and chocolate. I put my favorite porridge into pancake form, and problem solved!

Banana Plum Oatmeal
I truly pity anyone who doesn’t like bananas in their oatmeal. Now, I can understand not liking bananas plain–even I struggle with that one sometimes, especially if it’s not perfectly overripe. 🙂 But bananas in oatmeal? It yields such creamy, sweet, and luxurious porridge. Also, combined with the soluble fiber of the oats, it makes my digestive system feel sooooooooo great afterwards.
This recipe is similar to Banana Bread Oatmeal–using many of the same ingredients–but it is peppered with small bites of silky red plums. It shows that you can add other fruits to another recipe to vary up the tastes and textures. You don’t always have to invent; sometimes, you can just innovate. 🙂
